In the affluent echelons of Chilean society, Mariana finds herself drowning in a sea of ennui, her days punctuated only by inking her signature on the dubious business documents her father persistently forwards her way. In an attempt to escape the monotony, she immerses herself in the world of horseback riding. Yet, beneath the disinterested gaze of her husband and the scornful eyes of her father, she finds herself mysteriously drawn towards her seasoned riding instructor, Juan. However, when she uncovers that Juan, affectionately known as the "Colonel", is entangled in a web of investigations concerning human rights violations during the Pinochet era, her intrigue quickly spirals into an obsession. Determined to unravel the enigma of his case, Mariana embarks on a daring mission, risking a dangerous liaison with a betrothed investigator to glean information. Torn between her conflicting desires, she grapples with the question: does she wish to see Juan languishing behind bars or cradled in his arms? The answer remains a tantalizing mystery, even to her.
