Plot

In the whimsical realm before Dorothy's fateful arrival in Oz, a courageous circus lion (Jason Priestley) from the heart of middle America finds himself whisked away to this enchanted land alongside the Wizard. Once a crowd-pleaser of the Omaha Circus, the lion now grapples with a far greater role as the unlikely hero destined to thwart the wicked ambitions of the nefarious Witch of the East (Lynn Redgrave). In this prequel to the timeless tale penned by L. Frank Baum and inspired by the book by his great-grandson Roger S. Baum, the Lion embarks on a thrilling adventure to prevent the Witch from acquiring the mystical Flower of Oz. As he traverses the vivid landscapes of Oz, he gathers a motley assembly of new friends and peculiar characters who look to him as the beacon of courage in their perilous journey. Yet, in the face of such daunting odds, the Lion faces a paradoxical risk. The very courage he inspires in others could be his downfall, threatening to strip him of the very essence that defines his bravery. 'Lion of Oz' (2000) is a magical expedition that explores the making of a hero, the sacrifice of courage, and the strength found in unlikely companionships, all woven within the enchanting fabric of the world of Oz.
