Plot

In a whirlwind of faith and desire, Latter Days (2004) explores the tumultuous intersection of religion, identity, and love. The film introduces us to Aaron Davis (Steve Sandvoss), a fervent Mormon missionary, striving to uphold the expectations of his faith and family. He's as devout as they come, a stark contrast to Christian Markelli (Wes Ramsey), a West Hollywood waiter with a penchant for fleeting encounters and hedonistic parties. When the paths of these two polar opposites cross, an unexpected connection sparks. Aaron and his fellow missionaries move into the apartment across from Christian, whose friends challenge him with a bet: seduce one of the religious newcomers. Targeting Aaron, Christian embarks on this game, unaware that it will lead to a profound self-questioning. As Christian finds himself falling for Aaron, he begins to question his own identity, wrestling with feelings he hadn't anticipated. Simultaneously, Aaron grapples with his emerging sexuality, a revelation that his church condemns as sinful. This unexpected love story becomes a journey of regret, perseverance, loss, and forgiveness. It's an intimate quest for acceptance and love, with each man forced to confront his deepest fears and desires. The true challenge lies not in their differences, but in overcoming the cultural and personal obstacles that threaten their bond. Because despite all, what they truly yearn for is each other.
