Plot

In the glittering, competitive world of Brentwood's social elite, an epic battle of extravagance unfolds. Goaded by the resounding success of Zachary Stein's Titanic-themed bar mitzvah, Hollywood agent Adam Fiedler becomes laser-focused on outdoing the spectacle for his son Benjamin's forthcoming ceremony. Despite the impending grandeur, young Benjamin grapples with the looming rite of passage. He finds himself lost in the labyrinth of Hebrew rites, unable to grasp the profound meaning behind the ceremony, further shadowed by the relentless pressure from his ambitious father. In a daring bid to divert his father's attention and carve out some space for reflection, Benjamin hatches a plan. He secretly invites his estranged grandfather, Irwin, a man who had abandoned his bitter son Ari and his mother Rose years ago. Irwin, with his hedonistic charisma, is a character his father adamantly dislikes, but his arrival two weeks before the bar mitzvah sends ripples through their meticulously planned lives. As the tension rises, granny Rose surprisingly opens her heart to Irwin's return. Amidst the brewing chaos, a unique bond blossoms between the young Benjamin and the wayward Irwin. The grandfather’s unconventional wisdom and paternal guidance provide Benjamin with a fresh perspective on his coming of age, stirring a new confidence within him. In a world obsessed with opulence, Benjamin navigates the complexities of tradition, family, and the true essence of manhood. Under the unlikely guidance of his prodigal grandfather, Benjamin embarks on a journey that redefines his bar mitzvah. It evolves from a mere spectacle of wealth into an enlightening rite of passage, hinting at the possibility of a more profound understanding of what it truly means to be a man.
