Plot

"O, mio babbino caro" fills the air as an elegant figure skates across the ice, a serene spectacle that starkly contrasts the chaotic world of Julien. Julien's existence is a far cry from grace, his daily dance a discordant ballet of dysfunction. His father, a man more at home with the blues and a gas mask than familial affection, relentlessly belittles Julien, his brother, and his expectant sister, while their grandmother gives her attention to a canine companion. Julien, a character of unique complexity, navigates life with schizophrenia. His distinguishing gold teeth glinting as he juggles his unconventional routines: bowling, singing, engaging in worship, and conversing with a group of young adults who, like him, are living with disabilities. Suspicion hangs in the air, suggesting the child his sister carries might be his. He often holds conversations over the phone, a device that connects him not to the living, but to the spectral presence of his long-deceased mother, who died giving birth to him. A disturbing implication looms over Julien, suggesting he may be a child murderer. The film invites you to step into Julien's shoes, offering a deeply personal, perhaps subjective, glance into the life of this odd family over a span of weeks.
