Jude (1996)

Set against the backdrop of late 19th century England, Jude, an ambitious yet naive stonemason, dreams of rising above his humble beginnings through a coveted university education. His aspirations take an unexpected turn when his wife, Arabella, abandons him. Seizing this upheaval as an opportunity, he relocates to Christminster, where destiny intertwines him with Sue, his intellectually radiant cousin. Their connection is magnetic, yet fraught with complications. Jude's past emerges like a specter when he confesses his previous marital tie to Sue, causing a deep fissure in their relationship.
