Set in the dawn of the Twentieth Century, the story revolves around the life of Lawrence 'Larry' Stevens, an ambitious and zealous reporter for The Evening News. His thirst for success and exclusivity leads him to wish for the power to know news before it happens, a desire born out of a casual conversation with his friend, Pop Benson. One fateful evening, their paths cross with a poster of Cigolini, a famed clairvoyant, and his stunning niece Sylvia Smith. Intrigued and captivated, they decide to experience the allure of the unknown by attending the show. Larry, smitten by Sylvia's charm, flirts unabashedly, setting the stage for an unexpected turn of events. As the night unfolds, Larry encounters Pop, who mysteriously hands him a newspaper, an encounter he dismisses as trivial. However, the following morning, reality dawns on Larry as he realizes that the newspaper is no ordinary copy but a peek into the future. Seizing this opportunity, Larry scoops an exclusive on a planned opera house heist, which puts him in the crosshairs of Inspector Mulrooney, who suspects him of foul play. Simultaneously, Larry courts Sylvia and continues to receive future editions of The Evening News from Pop. With each passing day, Larry's reputation as a reporter skyrockets, resulting in a promotion and a significant salary increase. With his life seemingly perfect, Larry is all set to marry Sylvia and plans to leverage his uncanny power to predict horse race winners. However, the gift of foresight soon becomes a curse when Larry learns of his imminent death. Now, he is caught in the throes of uncertainty and fear, questioning whether it's possible to alter the course of the future.
