Plot

Since the late 19th century, Hart Island has been the final resting place for New York's nameless dead. Unseen by the city's bustling life, the island holds the whispers of a million souls, their stories untold and forgotten. But now, Rupert King, a ruthless real estate mogul, wishes to transform this hallowed ground into "Hope City," a supposed haven for the city's poor and homeless. As King ventures to the island for the inaugural ceremony of his project, he is escorted by a New York detective on a haunting quest to find a lost girl's body, and a reluctant crew from the Department of Corrections, all oblivious to the island's spectral inhabitants. However, as the sun dips below the horizon, King's personal assistant mysteriously vanishes, and the island begins to reveal its eerie secrets. The noble facade of King's plan begins to crumble, hinting at sinister motives. As night envelops Hart Island, the spirits of its eternal residents stir, their presence manifesting as swarms of lethal flies. Ignored for centuries, they rise against this invasion of their sanctuary. The island, once a silent tomb, now echoes with the cries of the forgotten, demanding recognition and refusing to be overshadowed by King's grandiose scheme.
