In the bustling heart of Kansas City, investment broker Karen Reese is a woman cursed by a chain of destructive relationships. Her brief marriage to the domineering John Reese resulted in their cherished son, Justin, whose yearning for a paternal figure tugs at Karen's heartstrings, especially in light of John's sporadic presence. Karen's most recent romantic endeavor with Randy Stroud ended in a familiar pattern echoing her past with John. Her sister, Donna Eckhart, speculates that Karen's fear might be the underlying saboteur of her relationships.
