Infidelity in Suburbia (2017)

Laura and Greg Halpern, nearing a decade of marriage, find themselves caught in the web of wedded discontent. Despite their shared love, they are increasingly out of sync on issues ranging from the upbringing of their seven-year-old son, Jamie, to their divergent spending priorities – Laura's dream of a new kitchen versus Greg's obsession with their costly sailboat. Greg's workaholism further fuels Laura's dissatisfaction, creating a widening chasm in their relationship, including their intimacy. Their lives take a turn when they cross paths with Elliot Graverston, a charismatic contractor and sailor, who offers to bring Laura's dream kitchen to life at a friendly rate. Elliot's charm is not lost on Laura's friend, Mira, who confesses her willingness to succumb to an affair with him. Laura, however, remains steadfast, clinging to her commitment to Greg, even amidst their growing issues. Laura's world begins to unravel when she stumbles upon suggestive evidence of Greg's infidelity, seemingly with his ever-present assistant, Hanna Jonkins. In this whirlwind of uncertainty, Laura seeks solace in Elliot, who eagerly offers not just emotional support but also a sexual escape. Unbeknownst to Laura, Elliot's engaging persona hides a troubled past marked by an absent father and a mother with a string of lovers, which may pose a threat to anyone close to Laura. As Laura grapples with her feelings for Greg and Elliot, she chooses to embark on a revenge affair with the latter, fuelled by the non-definitive proof of Greg's unfaithfulness. Yet when it becomes clear that the evidence was left by mischievous trespassers, Laura attempts to sever ties with Elliot and salvage her marriage. Elliot, however, refuses to let go, his obsession with Laura, and a twisted desire to become Jamie's stepfather, escalating. Only then does Laura delve into Elliot's dark past, unveiling a trajectory of violence stemming from his mother's death. The storm already brewing, Laura must navigate the turbulent waters of deceit, obsession, and danger, as she strives to protect her family from the looming threat that is Elliot Graverston.
