In the Shadows (2001)

In the pulsating heart of Miami, a stuntman meets an untimely demise, triggering a chain of events that ripples all the way to New York's criminal underbelly. His uncle, the formidable head of a notorious mob, dispatches a hitman, Eric O'Bryne, to closely shadow the stunt coordinator, who has been marked for death. In a dangerous game of deception, Eric grows close to the coordinator's daughter, ultimately convincing her father to teach him the adrenaline-fueled art of stunt work. As Eric teeters on the knife-edge of loyalty and treachery, waiting for the signal to execute his deadly assignment, he finds himself drawn to the thrill of stunt work and the warmth of family bonds. Simultaneously, a game of cat and mouse ensues over the deceased stuntman's stolen loot—a briefcase brimming with cash and a bag of illicit drugs pilfered from an incognito FBI agent, who's now frantic to return the stolen substance to its rightful bureau. As the stunt coordinator philosophizes, they're all engaged in a macabre dance in death's shadow. With lives hanging in the balance, the question remains: will Eric emerge from the shadows into the life-giving sun?
