Plot

In the bustling heart of Bombay, amidst the walls of the Bal Mandir orphanage, we find Raju (Sanjay Dutt), an orphan with a noble heart. His life takes a turn when Amina (Shammi), a childless owner of a guest house, adopts him and another orphan, Vijay (Rohan Kapoor). The bond of brotherhood that forms between Raju and Vijay transcends bloodlines, each becoming the other's pillar of support. Vijay, nurtured on the dreams of his deceased father, aspires to become a chemical engineer. But the path to his dreams is paved with financial hurdles. Here, Raju steps up, sacrificing his own comfort to secure Vijay's education and eventual training in London, under the watchful eye of Rai Sahab (Pran). Meanwhile, Sudarshan Rai, the Bombay-based owner of S.R. Chemicals, faces a treacherous betrayal. His trusting nature is exploited by Sudhir, his employee, who secretly sells drugs to the malevolent Ramesh Sinha and Tiwarilal, ensnaring Sudarshan in a web of deceit. As Sudarshan's partner, Dr. Raj Bahadur Verma, attempts to intervene, he tragically loses his life, leaving his son Vijay lost and alone. Across the ocean, Vijay's life in London takes an unexpected twist when he's compelled to return to India. His departure leaves Rai Sahab oblivious to his true background. Yet, destiny weaves a tapestry of interconnected lives as Rai Sahab's pampered and obstinate daughter, Renu (Farha), gets engaged to the dashing Kailash (Sumeet Saigal). Unbeknownst to all, Kailash is the son of Ramesh Sinha, now hiding under the guise of Sindhania. In its essence, "Imaandaar" (1987) is a tale of family, betrayal, sacrifice, and the unbreakable bond of brotherhood. The narrative takes you on a journey through the lives of its characters, their dreams, and their trials, all the while maintaining a suspenseful allure that keeps you engaged till the end.
