In the midst of the silent, frosty world of figure skating, emerges an unlikely swan, Casey Carlyle. A high-school bookworm, Casey has always been an outsider, her nose more often in books than in the real world. Her dreams of pirouettes and axels seem incompatible with her mother's dream of Harvard's hallowed halls. But when she stumbles upon a project that marries her love for physics and figure skating, Casey's world takes an icy spin. Urged by her physics teacher, Casey embarks on a summer project that aims to demonstrate the principles of physics within the graceful swirls and leaps of competitive figure skating. Her research leads her to a skating club run by Tina Harwood, a disgraced former skating champion and mother to one of three elite prodigies, Gen, who rule the ice with their skilled performances and frosty attitudes. As Casey delves deeper into her project, she realizes that to truly understand the physics she's attempting to explain, she must become a participant rather than an observer. She joins the skating school, stepping onto the ice and into a world far removed from the blackboard and textbooks she's accustomed to. As she trains with Gen and her coach, Tina, Casey discovers a new passion burning within her. She also finds unexpected support in Gen's brother, a charming Zamboni driver, who believes in her dream, even when Casey herself begins to doubt. Caught in a whirlwind of dreams and ambitions, Casey must make a heart-wrenching decision. Will she choose the path laid out by her mother, leading to the prestigious corridors of Harvard?
