Plot

In the heart of Paris, an aging thespian named Gilbert Valence, at 76, has spent his days steeped in the comforting rhythm of daily routines and the familiar script of a lifelong acting career. However, his tranquil existence is abruptly shattered when he's confronted with the tragic news of a horrific car crash that claimed the lives of his wife, daughter, and son-in-law. Suddenly thrust into the role of guardian for his orphaned grandson, Gilbert grapples with the rigors of newfound responsibility and grief, all while attempting to continue navigating the demanding world of acting. The once cherished scripts and roles now seem to echo the harsh realities of his life, from the glitz of a flashy TV show to the chaotic scramble of a last-minute replacement in an English-language film adaptation of Joyce's Ulysses. As Gilbert finds himself wrestling with the roles he's offered, he begins to question the relevance of his acting career amidst his personal turmoil. The stage is set for a poignant exploration of life, loss, and the challenging decision of when it's time to bow out from the spotlight. Could this be Gilbert's final curtain call, or will the resilience of the human spirit prompt him to continue his performance? Experience the heartrending journey of "I'm Going Home," a tale that beautifully intertwines the realms of personal tragedy and the art of acting.
