Plot

Honoring the relentless pursuit of justice, "Hunting Down the Nazis" (2007) pays tribute to the dauntless individuals like Simon Wiesenthal and Serge and Beate Klarsfeld, who dedicated their lives to the arduous task of hunting former Nazis. This powerful narrative, woven from a rich tapestry of archival documents, commences with the haunting images of German civilians, compelled by the Allies to bury the victims of one of the last deportee massacres in May 1945. Simon Wiesenthal, a figure of unwavering resolve, relentlessly tracks Eichmann, the mastermind behind the Final Solution, until his apprehension in the distant lands of South America. Meanwhile, the fearless Klarsfeld couple confronts Hagen, Lischka, and Heinrichson, the Gestapo leaders in Paris, as well as Barbie, the notorious Gestapo chief in Lyon. Beate Klarsfeld audaciously challenges the German Chancellor Kiesinger, a former senior Nazi propaganda officer, by publicly slapping him. The film culminates with the trial of Maurice Papon, a former French minister, prosecuted for his involvement in the deportations. In the words of Mathieu Kassovitz, deeply moved by the film and lending his voice to it, "We can no longer say now that it didn't exist". "Hunting Down the Nazis" is a compelling testament to the endurance of human spirit and the enduring quest for justice.
