Plot

The orphan boy Hugo lives in a 1930s Paris train station where he spends his days stealing food, dodging the station master, fixing the station clocks and trying to repair the broken mechanical man that his watchmaker father had been working on before his death. When Hugo befriends a girl named Isabelle, the goddaughter of a cranky toyshop owner, they start to uncover a fantastic mystery from the past that involves Isabelle's godfather, the automaton and the magic of film.
