Plot

In the pulsating heart of 1967 New Orleans, the St. Gregory hotel proudly stands as an emblem of luxury and warmth. Despite its grandeur, the hotel is teetering on the brink of financial ruin, leaving its owner, Warren Trent, grappling with a mortgage he cannot renew. His spry and competent general manager, Peter McDermott, is willing to take a gamble by securing a loan from a union, but this risky move could inadvertently grant the union a stranglehold on the local hospitality industry. Another option presents itself in the form of Curtis O'Keefe, the ruthless owner of a prominent hotel chain. His eyes gleam with the prospect of adding the St. Gregory to his empire, but his involvement threatens to strip the hotel of its unique charm. Amidst this whirlwind of corporate power plays, the hotel continues to serve as a backdrop to the dramas of its diverse guests. Among the hotel's temporary residents are the Duke and Duchess of Lanbourne, the Duke grappling with a scandal of his own - a hit-and-run that has left a child injured. In the shadowy corners of the hotel lurks Keycase Milne, a cunning thief who exploits the anonymity of the busy hotel to carry out his nightly exploits, slipping like a ghost through its underground passages. The St. Gregory hotel is a living, breathing entity, its grandeur masking a labyrinth of secrets, scandals, and power struggles. The thrilling crash of an elevator and the audacious pursuit of a thief add to the adrenaline-fueled atmosphere, making the hotel more than just a place to rest one's head: it's a microcosm of life itself, filled with its own dramas, tragedies, and triumphs.
