In the small-town universe of baseball, where sibling rivalry meets the raw spirit of the game, we meet Joey Deluca, an ex-minor league player who's traded the thrill of the diamond for the more subdued environment of his father's sports bar. After leaving baseball, Joey's life has become a series of fleeting hobbies, none of which manage to ignite the same spark he once felt on the field. Rico, his more successful brother, basks in local fame as a professional ball player, a Chevrolet dealership owner, and a dedicated little league baseball coach. When their father, Al, learns of a coaching vacancy in the town's little league, he nudges Joey back towards the sport that once defined him. Reluctantly, Joey steps up to coach the Cubs, a team whose heart beats in a new kid named Lori. Bereft of a mother and with a father in prison, Lori dreams about making his mark on the upcoming Home Run Showdown, hoping to catch his father's eye from his jail cell. But with a rule that only the top three teams can participate, Joey's lackluster coaching threatens to shatter Lori's dream. Seeing the need for an incentive, Al proposes a tantalizing deal: he will pass on his beloved sports bar to the son whose team collects the most balls at the Showdown. The stakes have never been higher, and the quiet town is soon buzzing with anticipation. The sibling rivalry between Joey and Rico takes center stage, fueling a battle that transcends the baseball field and reaches into the heart of their lives.
