Plot

In the heart of the American southwest, two daring escapees from the confines of incarceration stumble into the quaint town of Happy, Texas. Their arrival is met with a whirl of mistaken identity as the sun-drenched community embraces them as the gay couple destined to host the town's cherished Little Miss Fresh Squeezed beauty pageant. With the siren song of a $1000 paycheck and the allure of a smokescreen from their pursuers, the convicts confront their predicament with an unexpected solution — they decide to play along. As accomplished con-men, they navigate the sequins and sashes, basking in the unanticipated celebrity status while skillfully maintaining their ruse. Yet, as straight men, they find themselves increasingly entangled in the web of local romance. They cross paths with Ally Walker's character, a disillusioned banker who's grown weary of men and love, and Illeana Douglas's character, a dowdy teacher with a questionable fashion sense. The town of Happy, Texas, becomes a playground for deception and desire, where the fugitives must juggle their newfound personas and their growing attractions while avoiding capture. All the while, the clock is ticking down to the main event that will decide their fate: the Little Miss Fresh Squeezed pageant. This comedic caper is a wild romp through small-town life, unexpected love, and the power of mistaken identity.
