Plot

In the heart of a Palestinian refugee camp, we encounter Haifa, named for the city that fuels his dreams and optimism. Despite being perceived as the village fool, Haifa possesses knowledge that eludes others. His life intertwines with the family of Abu Said, an ex-policeman who finds renewed optimism in the shifting political landscape. Abu Said's wife, Oum Said, pins her hopes on their eldest son, Said, who is on the brink of release from prison. As she busily seeks a suitable bride for him, she dreams of stability and a brighter future. Their younger son, Siad, is the polar opposite—skeptical, defiant, and resistant to the promises of change. Meanwhile, Sabah, their twelve-year-old daughter, flirts with the future, her young mind filled with curiosity about what lies ahead for her. In weaving together these divergent narratives, Haifa offers a compelling snapshot into the contemporary Palestinian psyche, presenting a rich tapestry of hope, skepticism, rebellion, and everyday dreams in the face of adversity.
