Plot

In the world of neglect and poverty, two siblings, eight-year-old Gemma and six-year-old Harley, try to navigate their turbulent existence under the care of their single mother, Krysstal Sinclair. Krysstal, though loved by her children, is more engrossed in her relentless pursuit of a boyfriend to provide for her, often leaving her children to fend for themselves while she ventures on romantic escapades. One fateful evening, an unfortunate incident with Garry, Krysstal's latest beau, leads to Gemma and Harley being abandoned on a desolate road, their only option being survival. The children, lost and alone, stumble upon an isolated farmhouse radiating with an almost magical allure. It's a sanctuary filled with good food, soft sheets and seemingly abundant care, operated by the outwardly benevolent young man, Brendon. However, beneath Brendon's compassionate exterior, his own demons lurk, casting a shadow over the haven he provides. As Gemma and Harley grapple with their new environment, the question arises: Are they any safer under Brendon's care than they were amidst their mother's neglect? This modern, neorealistic interpretation of the Brothers Grimm's Hansel and Gretel, named H&G, weaves a tale of survival and sibling love where danger is never far off, and the only certainty is each other. It's a poignant exploration of childhood resilience, the complexity of human nature, and the relentless pursuit of safety in a world filled with uncertainty.
