Gun Grit (1936)

In the heart of New York City, a notorious gang led by the ruthless Mack - accompanied by his henchmen Looie, Dopey, and Don - thrive on running a protection racket. When the heat in the city becomes unbearable, they decide to head west, bringing their criminal enterprise to the unsuspecting ranchers. Meanwhile, the Federal Investigation Department, not yet named the FBI in this period, gets wind of the gang's activities through a plea for help from one of the rancher victims, Tim Hess. In response, the FID sends their most competent agent, Bob Blake, to investigate and counteract this threat. Upon his arrival at the train station, Blake is greeted by Tim's daughter Jean, her uncle Joe Hess, her baby brother Tim, and their loyal police dog, Braveheart. Posing as a vacationer, Blake secures a temporary home at the Hess ranch and begins his undercover mission. During his stay, Blake's cunning and courage are put to the test when he intercepts a theft by a rogue ranch employee, Al Romero, regaining not only the stolen payroll but also his white horse, Starlight, which had been sent ahead to the ranch. However, the true test arrives when word gets around that Mack and his thugs are heading to another ranch. Bob, Tim, and their ally Dave race against time to intercept the gang. Meanwhile, the plot thickens and tension escalates as young Bobby Hess goes missing, and Braveheart embarks on a search mission. Simultaneously, the gangsters cause chaos by shooting cattle and instigating a herd stampede, culminating in the capture of Blake. Left guarded by Dopey and Don, Bob must rely on the duo of Braveheart and Starlight to free him from his bonds. A thrilling chase ensues, with Blake on Starlight's back, racing to overtake Mack and Looie, and bring them to justice.
