Plot

In the bustling heart of New York City, an unconventional romance takes root between American horticulturist Brontë Parrish and French composer Georges Fauré. The pair, introduced by mutual friend Anton, find themselves tethered in a marriage of convenience without even truly meeting each other until their civil ceremony. Brontë craves the key to her dream apartment, a haven for plant lovers with its own neglected greenhouse and expansive patio, but the catch is the lease is exclusive to married couples. On the other side, Georges, who has overstayed his tourist visa, yearns for a green card to secure his future in the States. The solution? A marital union that should, in theory, dissolve as soon as their individual needs are met. However, their carefully laid plans entangle when immigration services unexpectedly knock on their door, threatening to expose their marital ruse. Advised by Brontë's lawyer, Georges moves into Brontë's botanical paradise, forcing the mismatched couple to play house until their hearing. They must master the art of deception, keeping their secret from Brontë's eccentric parents, her unsuspecting boyfriend Phil, and the prying eyes of the apartment's management. As they navigate this strange cohabitation, they grapple with their stark differences and the frustrating quirks of their enforced roommate. Yet, amidst the chaos, something unexpected blooms. A bond begins to form, and they find themselves questioning if the prize they initially sought is the real treasure in this intricate dance of deception. With immigration services closing in, they may discover that their marriage, initially rooted in convenience, may hold more depth than they ever imagined. This charming tale of Green Card explores the comedy, tension, and unexpected love that can emerge when two strangers are thrown together by fate and circumstance.
