In the tumultuous twilight of the nineteenth century, amidst the rugged wilds of the Wyoming Territory, a place notorious for lawlessness, a beacon of justice emerges. John Goodnight, a well-traveled circuit court judge, carries a deep-seated disdain for lawyers, a sentiment forged from his own stint in the profession. Determined to uphold justice, he is often pitted against Lucius Breed, the unscrupulous lawyer of the small town of Rollins. In the midst of this moral battle, a ghost from the past resurfaces; Callie Bluepointe, a former flame from their shared days in Chicago. Will's introduction to John is far from ordinary. He is the lone captive of Deke Spradling's notorious gang, apprehended amidst a botched getaway following a bank robbery.
