Plot

In the bustling world of Detridge & Frome, we meet Mr. Mason, a diligent salesman with an ambitious vision to publicize their elite equestrian attire. His grand plan? To employ the esteemed jockey, Peter Randall, who is currently gracing Australia with his racing prowess. With an uncanny resemblance to Peter, Mr. Mason decides to play the part at the thrilling Steeple Chase event. His impersonation not only attracts the attention of the glamorous Cora, who invites him to an exclusive soirée, but also captures the heart of the enchanting young Ellen. Their shared love for horses forms the bridge between them, compelling him to uphold the pretense to win her affection. However, the plot takes an unexpected turn when two cunning gamblers, Maxie and Duke, see an opportunity to profit from the race. Their scheme involves the fiery 'Jeepers Creepers', a horse renowned for his phenomenal speed and spectacular jumps. Yet, this wild beast only succumbs to tranquillity when soothed by the melodic strains of Gabriel's trumpet. As the tale unfolds, it's a thrilling gallop towards the finish line, where deceit, romance, and high stakes come together in a heart-pounding climax.
