Plot

In the heart of Paris, 1967, Jean-Luc Godard, the cinematic maestro behind "A bout de souffle", "Le Mépris", and "Pierrot le fou", finds his existence pivoting from shaping the contours of cinema to morphing into a full-blown revolutionary. Immersed in the making of "La Chinoise", a film more akin to a fervent Maoist manifesto than a conventional movie, Godard walks on the edges of rebellion and creativity. His muse and starlet is the vibrant Anne Wiazemsky, the literary heiress of François Mauriac, and a woman sixteen years his junior. Their romance blossomed in 1966 and solidified into marriage within a year. She was drawn to his audacious originality, intellectual depth, and quick-witted charm, while he was captivated by her youthful spirit and her unwavering admiration for him. However, the turbulent wave of May 1968 poses a formidable challenge to their union. As Godard plunges deeper into the vortex of revolution, he becomes increasingly distant from his young bride, yet paradoxically, his jealousy remains unabated. Amidst this chaos, it appears that the once brilliant humorist is on the brink of losing his distinctive sparkle. The film explores the interweaving of love, art, and politics in a time of upheaval, and how the genius and his muse navigate these tumultuous waters.
