Plot

In the heart of the 1930s, nestled within the confines of Caleb County, resides a man shrouded in mystery and disdain - Felix Bush. A hermit by choice and an outcast by reputation, Felix's existence is as compelling as it is isolating. Aroused by the tales spun about a fellow recluse, Felix decides to step out of the shadows and orchestrate a spectacle that will echo through the town's dusty streets and into the hearts of its people. Intrigued by Felix's peculiar request to host his own funeral, the local funeral home director Frank Quinn, and his right-hand man, family-oriented Buddy Robinson, seize the opportunity. They are lured by Felix's offer of his seemingly endless three hundred acre land as a prize in a raffle, but they are also drawn towards the enigma that is Felix. Felix's grand plan centers on a funeral party, an unconventional gathering where anyone with a tale about him is invited. While the town speculates, Felix's intentions are twofold: to hear the myriad stories woven about him, and to expose the truth of his past that has been buried under rumours and half-truths. The journey to the funeral takes an unexpected detour as Felix requests Buddy to accompany him to Illinois. His aim? To seek out Reverend Charlie Jackson, a man who holds the key to the painful secret that has cast a long shadow over Felix's life. Will Felix's grand plan come to fruition? Will the town come to see the man beneath the myth? And most importantly, will Felix find the courage to reveal his secrets not only to the town but to himself as well? In "Get Low," the past isn't always a ghost, and the truth is the most liberating funeral one can have.
