In the summer of 2008, Senator John McCain finds himself trailing against Barack Obama in the race to the White House. His advisors, notably the shrewd strategist Steve Schmidt, convince him that to overturn the odds, they need a groundbreaking move, a game changer - a female Vice Presidential candidate. Enter Sarah Palin, the relatively unknown Governor of Alaska, selected after a whirlwind five-day vetting instead of the usual eight-week process.
