An American Affair (2008)

In the autumn of 1963, amidst the political fervor of Washington D.C., adolescence takes on an unexpected dimension for junior-high student Adam Stafford. His world becomes entangled with that of his intriguing new neighbor, Catherine Caswell, a vivacious woman in her 30s who also happens to be a painter with a penchant for powerful lovers, including the President of the United States. Catherine's enigmatic lifestyle captivates Adam, leading him down a path of adolescent obsession. He finds himself secretly immersing in her world, peering through her windows, deciphering her diary, and even covertly navigating her closet. His actions don't go unnoticed, drawing the gaze of CIA agents who are keeping tabs on Catherine due to her associations with an anti-Castro Cuban. When Catherine hires Adam for garden work, an unusual friendship blossoms between them.
