Plot

In the heart of New York City, Letty Morris, a dazzling chorus girl, finds herself ensnared in a dangerous dance with Legs Caffey, a hard-hearted racketeer bewitched by her allure. Desperate to escape his relentless advances, Letty boards a cross-country bus destined for Los Angeles, a city where she hopes to find anonymity. Unwilling to let his damsel slip away, Legs trails closely behind, joining the transient cohort of passengers. Among the motley mix of travelers, an unexpected ally emerges from the shadows. Paul Porter, a recently escaped convict, finds sanctuary hidden amidst the passengers' luggage during a brief stopover. His entrance onto the bus sets into motion an extraordinary journey, and a peculiar love triangle ensues. Porter, succumbing to Letty's charm, finds himself at odds with Legs, who threatens to expose his criminal past. As their journey unravels, Letty's heart finds itself entwined with Porter's, igniting Legs' jealousy. In a surprising twist of fate, Legs permits Porter to evade capture, realizing that Letty's heart belongs to another. However, their troubles are far from over. Detective Daly, hot on Porter's trail, follows the bus, waiting for the opportune moment to recapture the runaway convict. The plot thickens when during an overnight stop, Porter absconds with the bus, taking Letty with him. The scene sets for a thrilling chase, as the law closes in, and the two fugitive lovers hurtle towards an unknown destiny.
