Plot

In the haunting year of 1957, Dorothy Yates, a woman with a chillingly twisted psyche, narrowly escapes capital punishment for her grotesque and horrific crimes. Alongside her passive husband, Edmund, she is locked away in a mental institution, her name echoing with dread in the annals of criminal history. Fast forward fifteen years, and the notorious couple now find themselves released into the quietude of Haslemere, Surrey, their confinement to an eerie, isolated farmhouse a stark contrast to their previous institutionalized life. To the unsuspecting eye, Dorothy appears to have metamorphosed into a serene matriarch, using her newfound tranquility to offer fortune-telling services to a youthful, unsuspecting clientele. As if under the spell of her seemingly peaceful persona, the townsfolk remain oblivious to her dark past. Yet, the arrival of enigmatic brown-paper parcels at her doorstep threatens to unleash the dormant beast within her. A gnawing hunger stirs in Dorothy's heart, an insatiable thirst for blood and carnage that can only be sated with a horrifying return to her surgical butchery. Meanwhile, Edmund, still haunted by the specter of their past, strives to shield his wife's monstrous nature, a task that grows increasingly difficult as Dorothy's sanity begins to teeter. Their daughters, Debbie and Jackie, live estranged from them, their lives a lingering question of whether they've inherited their mother's sinister appetites. As the shroud of normalcy gradually slips, revealing the gruesome reality, one can't help but wonder - is the infamous Dorothy Yates truly back? Will the quiet town of Haslemere become her new hunting ground? The chilling tale of 'Frightmare' invites you to uncover the answers, if you dare.
