Friday the 13th: A New Beginning (1985)

Half a decade has passed since the terrifying night Tommy Jarvis managed to slay the seemingly invincible Jason Voorhees, the notorious hockey mask-clad killer. Despite his victory, Tommy finds himself entrapped in a labyrinth of nightmares, haunted relentlessly by the specter of Jason's possible return. His tormented psyche lands him in numerous mental institutions until he finds himself at Pinehurst, an idyllic rehabilitation center nestled in the rural heart of New Jersey, a haven for troubled teenagers. Just as he starts to acquaint himself with the diverse crowd of residents, including the steadfast Pam Roberts and the vivacious Reggie Winter, an eerie echo of the past shatters the tranquility. When a sudden, gruesome death of a teenager at the hands of an unwitting lumberjack sends shockwaves through Pinehurst, it sets off a chilling chain of murders. A new menace, cloaked in the all-too-familiar hockey mask, begins a bloody rampage, preying on those within and around the sanctuary. Tommy is plunged into a horrifying déjà vu, forced to confront the terror he thought he left behind. Is this a ghastly resurrection of Jason Voorhees, back from the dead to continue his murderous spree? Or could it be Tommy himself, succumbing to his darkest fears and stepping into Jason's blood-stained shoes? Perhaps, an unforeseen copycat killer is on the loose, capitalizing on the legacy of terror left by Jason. As the body count rises, Tommy and his friends must unravel the mystery and halt this new reign of terror before they fall victim to this new nightmare.
