Plot

In the quaint town of Gopher City, Kansas, a beauty pageant sets the stage for a tale of ambitions, dreams, and love. Our protagonist, the radiant Elvira Plunkett, wins the contest and sets off for Hollywood, accompanied by her formidable mother and Elmer J. Butz, an earnest agent from their hometown. Unspoken feelings simmer between Elvira and Elmer, but Mrs. Plunkett's disdain for Elmer leaves their relationship on a tightrope. As the train chugs towards Tinsel Town, they cross paths with the dashing movie star Larry Mitchell. Charmed by Elvira, Larry pledges to introduce her to the high-powered directors of MGM. Elmer, however, is caught between his desire to support Elvira's burgeoning career and his longing to be more than just her agent. In the glamour and glitter of Hollywood, stardom beckons the unsuspecting group from Gopher City. But who will bask in the limelight remains a captivating mystery. Equally uncertain and thrilling is the question of who will ultimately capture the affections of the lovely Elvira. The story of Free and Easy (1930) is a charming blend of comedy, romance, and drama, promising a delightful journey into the heart of early Hollywood.
