In the rustic heart of Burgendorf, Bavaria, resides the Bernle family, each son carving his own path: Franz, the soldier; Johann, the blacksmith; Andreas, the shepherd. The youngest, Joseph, finds himself in a skirmish with the intimidating Major Von Stomm while courting a local beauty during a hayride.
