Some people might consider Nick a con man. He likes to think of himself as someone who studies human behavior closely. He spends a lot of watching what people are doing. His goal is to convince them to act in his interest rather than their own. His skills capture the attention of someone else. Jessie sees what he does and how well he does it. She wants to learn from him. She's also very much on the make and willing to engage in less than ethical behavior. That is why the two of them create a plot for this movie.
