In the wake of a devastating car accident that claims her mother's life, 13-year-old Amy finds herself uprooted from New Zealand and sent to the unfamiliar landscapes of Canada to live with her estranged father. Her father, a whimsical inventor with an eccentric streak, is a stranger to her, and Amy struggles to adapt to her new life.
