Plot

In the heart of southern Japan, nestled within a quaint seaport town, a band of wandering performers, led by the aging maestro Komajuro Arashi, disembarks. However, this is more than just another stop on their tour. For Komajuro, it's a journey back to a past he left behind long ago, his old flame Oyoshi, and their son Kiyoshi who knows Komajuro only as an uncle. As Komajuro attempts to bridge the chasm of time, he finds himself treading on delicate secrets and simmering emotions. In the wings, the lead actress Sumiko, consumed by jealousy, cunningly orchestrates a plot to tarnish the master's pride. She manipulates the naive young actress, Kayo, into a seductive dance with the unsuspecting Kiyoshi. As the troupe's personal dramas start to outshine their staged performances, a web of love, deceit, and revelations threatens to unravel the fragile fabric of their world. Floating Weeds paints a vivid portrait of a troupe's dynamics set against the backdrop of a serene Japanese coastal town. The film offers an intimate exploration of hidden pasts, unrequited love, and the price one pays for redemption.
