Amid the darkness of Nazi occupation, two men emerge from the shadows: the fiery-haired Bent Faurschou-Hviid, known as "Flame", and his comrade, Jørgen Haagen Schmith, or "Citron". As crucial cogs in the Danish resistance, they take directives from the enigmatic Winther, a pivotal link to the Allied command. A deadly duo, one pulls the trigger while the other takes the wheel. Their mission, until 1944, is to eliminate only their fellow Danes. But as the war escalates, Winther mandates a shift in their targets - now they must gun down Germans. However, when one of their marks whispers a chilling revelation to Bent about Winther's true intentions, a seed of doubt is sown, further tangled by Bent's entanglement with the intriguing Kitty Selmer, who might be playing both sides. The plot thickens as they suspect a traitor within their ranks. Faced with an insurmountable task of assassinating a high-ranking target, evading capture, and surviving the war, Bent and Jørgen are left questioning their actions.
