Plot

In the tranquil seaside town of Japan, where religious festivals illuminate the night sky with a kaleidoscope of fireworks, a schoolgirl named Nazuna discovers a mysterious, transparent orb on the shore. This dazzling object, filled with an otherworldly power, becomes her silent ally as she grapples with an unsettled home life, poised on the brink of upheaval as her mother prepares to walk down the aisle for the third time. Possessed by a fervent wish to flee her tumultuous home, Nazuna schemes an audacious escape plan. However, her attempts repeatedly falter, leaving her feeling trapped in her less than idyllic life - that is, until the day her classmate Norimichi uncovers the extraordinary power harboured within the transparent sphere. Meanwhile, Norimichi and his friends, Yûsuke and Jun'ichi, are consumed by an innocent curiosity. They yearn to unravel a simple yet intriguing enigma — do fireworks appear round or flat when viewed from the side? Their quest for truth intertwines with the local fireworks display, an event that doubles as the backdrop to Nazuna's desperate bid for freedom. As the skies above the town burst into vibrant hues of the firework display, two parallel journeys unfold. Nazuna's dramatic escape plan hinges on the outcome of a poolside challenge against Norimichi and Yûsuke. The victor's prize? A chance to run away with Nazuna, a twist that promises to change their lives forever. 'Fireworks' weaves a tale of youthful curiosity, supernatural mystery, and the desperate yearning for escape, all under the spectacular canvas of a religious festival's fireworks display. It's a journey of self-discovery, friendship, and the subtle magic that dwells within the mundane.
