Fire Will Come (2019)

Amador, a middle-aged arsonist, emerges from the confines of prison back into the world he once set ablaze. After serving a significant portion of his sentence for the destruction of an entire mount, he returns to his birthplace, a small, secluded mountain town nestled in the province of Lugo, Galicia, in the verdant northwest of Spain. With no friends or resources to his name, the taciturn Amador finds refuge in the humble abode of his aging mother, Benedicta. Condemned to a life of silence and solitude, Amador seeks solace in the simple tasks of tending livestock and fostering a quiet interest in Elena, the town's veterinarian. Yet, the echoes of his fiery past follow him like a shadow, with the town's tightly-knit community reminding him of his past deeds. All the while, his mother, Benedicta, harbors a desperate hope for her son's redemption, engaging in hushed conversations with Inazio, a man restoring ancient houses into rural tourist resorts, in an attempt to secure a semblance of normalcy for Amador. However, the town's tranquil existence, dominated by relentless rain and fog, is abruptly shattered. The nightmare that once consumed their lives rears its fiery head again, threatening not only the town's houses but the very life of its inhabitants. Suspicion and animosity stir in the hearts of the villagers, as the question arises - who is to blame when the fire comes? The verdant Galician village finds itself teetering on the edge of destruction once more, with Amador at the heart of this fiery maelstrom.
