Plot

Alex Chivescu is a young prodigy, proud of his mother Illeana, a Romanian immigrant who braved all odds to become an academic in Michigan. The two share an unbreakable bond, their lives intertwined in a loving and encouraging environment, despite the absence of Alex's father. Illeana's passion for education ignites a dream within Alex: to graduate from the prestigious halls of Harvard. However, life takes a brutal turn when Illeana is involved in a car accident that leaves her battling bipolar disorder. The medication meant to stabilize her condition instead shrouds her mind in fog, causing her to oscillate between hospitals and home, where she treats Alex abusively. Each episode lands Alex in the cold, unfamiliar world of foster care. Yet despite the tumult, Alex clings to his academic aspirations, maintaining a flawless 4.0 GPA. At sixteen and a junior at Eagle Creek High School, he finds solace and support in his school environment, an oasis amidst his turbulent home life. Determined to remain in this sanctuary, Alex takes radical steps to ensure his dreams aren't derailed. He seeks legal emancipation, vowing to take control of their chaotic lives. The story of "Finding a Family" unfolds as Alex grapples with the reality of his choices and their repercussions. Will the extraordinary measures he takes secure his future at Harvard or will they shatter the dreams he's worked so hard to protect? This poignant narrative is a testament to resilience, the power of dreams and the lengths one is willing to go for the pursuit of a better life.
