Plot

Philip Fielder, an old-fashioned advertisement graphics artist, finds himself in the throes of a fierce competition with his modern rival, Lou. The grand prize? The coveted position of creative director in JD's firm and the chance to woo the major Texan client, fast-food chain Taco Bob. Amidst this high-stakes contest, life throws Philip an unexpected curveball. His sister, a solitary artist, abruptly leaves him the responsibility of her mildly autistic eight-year-old son, Zach, before tragically dying in a car crash. With his loyal dog by his side, Philip, initially overwhelmed by this sudden shift, starts to form an unlikely bond with the young boy who's as challenging as he is endearing. Philip's journey into the realm of parenthood is fraught with trials and tribulations. He grapples with the unfamiliarity of fatherhood and the inadequacy of available assistance. As he teeters on the precipice of relinquishing guardianship to his aunt, a mother of three rambunctious boys living on a farm, Philip begins to experience the profound joy that comes from being a father. "Fielder's Choice" is a poignant tale that charts the transformation of a man from a career-focused individual to a nurturing guardian, threading the needle between professional ambition and unexpected familial love. The narrative beautifully encapsulates the trials, triumphs, and happiness discovered in the most unlikely circumstances.
