Plot

In the shadowy world of twelve-year-old Ryan Billings, an acute fear of the dark casts a gloom that stretches well beyond the absence of light. Each night, he lies in a state of torment, his heart throbbing with the anticipation of an evil that comes alive when the lights go out. This malignant presence feeds on his terror, growing stronger and more potent with each passing night. His older brother, seventeen-year-old Dale, sees these fears as mere cries for attention. Despite his skepticism, however, he pledges to stand guard over his younger brother when their parents, Sandy and Eric, reluctantly leave for an evening party. Their home, usually a beacon of light amidst Ryan's fears, is now shrouded in an eerie darkness as a storm rages outside, eventually causing a power outage. As the night grows darker, the house is consumed by an ominous quiet. Ryan's fears shift from mere dread to a chilling certainty that tonight, the evil lurking in the shadows has come to claim him. Dale, previously dismissive, struggles to restore calm, but the inexplicable happenings within their home make it impossible to ignore Ryan's terror. Throughout a relentlessly stormy night and a blackout that seems to last an eternity, Dale begins to realize that the things that go bump in the night may be more real than he ever fathomed. In "Fear of the Dark," a seemingly normal night morphs into a terrifying ordeal, a chilling testament to a young boy's primal fear and the protective instincts of an older brother who must confront the unimaginable.
