Plot
In the stark contrast of post-World War II British television, Fanny Cradock emerges as a vibrant anomaly, her flamboyant make-up and tinted cuisine captivating audiences against the backdrop of monochromatic sets. Amidst her vibrant persona, however, hides a tyrannical disposition; disowning her own son Chris over marital disagreements, leaving her ever-patient husband and co-host, Johnnie, unable to intervene.
Fanny's reign of culinary tyranny comes to an abrupt halt when she publicly berates a contest winner, Gwen, for her choice of menu on a reality TV show. The public's revulsion at Fanny's treatment of the humble Devon housewife triggers a backlash potent enough to cost Fanny her television career. Post Johnnie's demise, Fanny's life takes a bitter turn as she finds herself in a retirement home, still attempting to assert her control over the kitchen. This movie takes viewers on a journey through Fanny's colourful yet tumultuous life, offering an insightful look into the rise and fall of a unique television personality.
