Fear City (1984)

In the pulsing heart of New York City, a chilling shadow descends on the glittering world of nightclubs and strippers. A deranged killer prowls the neon-lit streets, meticulously hunting and brutally slashing the dancers who light up the city's nightlife. Amidst this reign of terror, Matt Rossi, an ex-boxer haunted by his past, operates a talent agency supplying these exotic dancers to mafia-controlled strip joints scattered across Manhattan. Rossi, along with his business partner and confidant Nicky, find themselves ensnared in a deadly game of cat and mouse with Al Wheeler, a relentless police detective hell-bent on solving the grisly murders and unmasking the villains that lurk beneath the city's glamorous veneer. Complicating matters is the re-emergence of Loretta, Matt's former lover, whose life as a dancer is marred by a tumultuous battle with addiction. Under the suffocating pressure from the police, the mob bosses, and the incessant fear of the next strike, Matt is force to confront his inner demons. With the city's underbelly writhing in fear and chaos, he must race against the clock to unmask the psycho-killer before the city's glittering nightlife is extinguished forever.
