Plot

In the heart of the South Seas, during the turbulent times of World War II, recluse Walter Eckland finds his tranquil island life disrupted. A consummate loner whose most faithful companion is a bottle of liquor, Eckland is reluctantly cajoled into becoming a lookout for the Allies, his task being to spy on enemy vessels. Yet, his penchant for drinking makes him far from the ideal sentinel, leading him on an unexpected detour to find a replacement. However, instead of a fellow watchman, Eckland stumbles upon a feisty schoolteacher, Catherine, and her band of young charges, marooned and on the run from the Japanese. Compelled by circumstance, he escorts the group to his secluded island, introducing an unprecedented disruption to his solitary existence. As the unlikely group adjusts to their new shared life, the island begins to buzz with more than just the whispers of war. Caught between the chaos of conflict and the serenity of the sea, an unlikely romance begins to blossom amidst the palm trees. The prim schoolmistress and the slovenly loner find themselves drawn to each other, their connection as unpredictable as the war itself. "Father Goose" paints a vibrant picture of love, survival, and unexpected alliances, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the South Seas in wartime.
