Plot

In the midst of political turbulence and racial tension, Angus Buchan, an African farmer of Scottish descent, portrayed compellingly by Frank Rautenbach, abandons his ancestral farm. With his family and faithful foreman, Simeon Bhengu, he ventures northward to begin anew in the heartland of Central Africa. Their new home, a humble mudhouse on a muddy patch of land, marks the initiation of their struggle to adapt to an unfamiliar land. As the Buchan family grapples with the relentless challenges of their new life, Angus finds himself spiraling into a vortex of fury, fear, and desolation. His once fervent pursuit of material success seems insignificant as he wrestles with the stark realities of faith, hope, and personal loss. Subsequent natural disasters and personal tragedies further test his resolve. Yet, within this turmoil, a profound transformation unfolds. Angus' frantic obsession with worldly success gradually morphs into a fervent love for God and humanity. His faith, like the potatoes he cultivates, remains unseen, growing silently beneath the surface until the time of the harvest. "Faith Like Potatoes" is a poignant adaptation of the inspiring true-life journey of Angus Buchan. Crafted for the silver screen by Regardt van den Bergh, it intertwines the threads of faith, courage, and resilience, painting a vibrant portrait of a man who stands as a testament to the strength of faith amidst life's greatest storms.
