Plot

Caught in the relentless grind of life's proverbial machinery, Joel, the beleaguered owner of an extract manufacturing plant, finds himself navigating an escalating maze of calamities that threaten to implode his world. In the industrial belly of his company, a machine malfunction results in his prospective floor manager suffering a gruesome accident. This incident not only jeopardizes the plant's stability but also casts a long shadow over Joel's professional future. Plunged into this crisis, Joel's personal life unravels in tandem, adding layers of complexity to his predicament. A late-night, drug-fuelled brainstorming session with Dean, his bartending confidant, leads him down a questionable path to test the fidelity of his seemingly distant wife. The advice, however, spirals out of control, sending ripples through his already turbulent marriage. As if these tribulations weren't enough, a new and ominous threat emerges in the form of Cindy, a crafty new employee with a predatory eye on the company's coffers. A scam artist of the highest order, she aims to drain the company, posing a significant risk to Joel's crumbling empire. Now, amidst this storm of personal and professional tumult, Joel must strive to rebuild his company and salvage his marriage. All the while, he's forced to confront his deepest desires and decipher what he truly seeks from life. Extract (2009) is a labyrinthine exploration of one man's struggles at the intersection of work, love, and the pursuit of happiness, where every turn could lead to salvation or deeper into chaos.
