Exposé (1976)

In the isolated splendor of the British countryside, we follow the intertwined lives of three distinct characters in Exposé. Paul, a troubled novelist, seeks solace from his tumultuous personal life and crippling writer's block in a secluded cottage. His latest project, an ambitious erotic tale, is hindered by his paranoid nightmares and the absence of his girlfriend, Suzanne. Enter Linda, the secretary Paul hires to transcribe his elusive masterpiece. Their first encounter at the railway station quickly escalates into a violent confrontation with a pair of local thugs, demonstrating Paul's latent aggression. Unbeknownst to him, Linda later endures a horrifying assault by these same youths during a solitary stroll in the countryside. Her retaliation is swift and brutal, leaving the attackers lifeless beneath the barrel of her shotgun. As Linda infiltrates the household, she usurprisingly displaces the loyal housekeeper, Mrs. Aston, who meets a gruesome end upon her night-time return to the house. Simultaneously, Paul is tormented by relentless nightmares, his romantic pursuits towards Linda consistently thwarted. In a desperate bid to regain normalcy, Paul invites Suzanne to rekindle their relationship. However, the situation spirals out of control when Linda ensnares Suzanne in a sensual web, leading to a steamy encounter. Amid this chaos, Paul's car plunges into a river, the result of sinister brake tampering. With Suzanne's shocking murder in the shower, the plot swerves into a maelstrom of violence and intrigue, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats.
