In the bustling heart of L.A., engineer Pete Stanhope and his wife, Donna, grapple with the emotional and financial burdens of ongoing IVF treatments. With Pete advocating for adoption and Donna ardently opposing, their relationship is strained to the breaking point. Seeking a respite from their escalating tensions, they embark on a romantic retreat to the relaxing landscapes of Mexico. Their journey, however, takes an unexpected detour when car troubles leave them marooned in Dommatina, a quaint, tranquil hamlet where the locals live in contentment. Here, Pete finds himself embracing the help of Juan Salazar, the village's sole car mechanic, whilst also assisting the insightful village elder Arturo in orchestrating the annual fiesta. The festival's centerpiece is the 'flying act', featuring Juan's younger brother, Pepillo, a boy whose spirit remains unhampered by his physical disability. As Pete and Donna immerse themselves in the community's simple joy and form a bond with Pepillo, their perspective on happiness and family begins to transform. In this serene oasis, they may just discover a new path for their future, one filled with hope and unexpected miracles.
